DERMAPEN VERSUS TRADITIONAL MICRONEEDLING?

The Dermapen skin rejuvenation treatment appears to have improved results and there appears to be much less epidermal damage as the needles are injected at a straight angle instead of rolling in at an angle as with manual roller device.

Dermapen treatments done by trained nurses and doctors, which allows for improved rejuvenation for wrinkles, smoker’s lines around the lips, skin tightening, large pores, stretch marks, scars and surgical scars.

WHY DERMAPEN?

Dermapen promotes scarless healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL, laser resurfacing and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.

Dermapen is a hand held device a little larger than a pen. It has a piece that is inserted into the top of the device, and this piece contains needles, which penetrate the skin at different levels depending on initial skin concerns or the depth of scarring. Dermapen can effectively reach the hard to reach places (e.g around the eyes, nose, and lips). This micro injury prompts the skin to heal and repair itself, and causes new collagen and elastin to form while helping the breakdown of old collagen. Your skin will be smoother, more polished skin and have a noticeable reduction of fine lines and acne scars due to the skin tightening and remodeling effects of Dermapen micro needling treatment. Your face is prepared and numbing cream applied, making sure the treatment is comfortable. An active solution containing hyaluronic acid, minerals, vitamins and peptides is massaged into the skin, which stimulates cell proliferation and so reduces the skin’s contours and improves elasticity. We then skilfully apply the Dermapen all over the face, focusing longer on the areas that you are concerned with.
A Mesoesthetic Crystal fiber is then applied to enhance the cell renewal process restructure the water- lipid layer and increase skin moisturising levels. It is made of crystal fiber, a material for medical use based on 3D nano – fibers and which is 100% safe and natural. An anti-oxidant and anti-ageing complex with coenzyme 10, DMAE and rosemary plant extract aid is then applied to aid with skin repair and collagen restructing. Finishing with protecting the skin with a moisturising sun protection.
This can vary from person to person. For instance: recommendation for Acne scarring 4 – 6 treatments, 6 weeks apart. Skin Rejuvenation/ Collagen induction – 4 – 6 treatments , 4 weeks apart. Stretch marks – 4 – 6 weeks, 6 weeks apart.
The great news is that the latest treatments such as Dermapen Skin Needling are more effective than ever and treatments should be started earlier rather than later, as the skin has a much greater ability to rejuvenate then. If wrinkles are left and they become static and scarred into the skin, they are much more difficult to treat later. It is also a great idea to start treatments to slow down sagging that takes place with ageing around the brow, jawline and neck.
A half an hour before the treatment a local numbing agent is applied to the area making the procedure with the cosmetic Dermapen almost painless. The needle only penetrates through the epidermis and does not remove it thus the skin’s natural protective barrier remains intact. The pierced epidermis rapidly heals in a few hours. After the procedure, the skin has the appearance of moderate sunburn which improves over the next 24 to 48 hours. Light mineral make up can be worn after the treatment. The treatment is not only very effective but also safe with very few (to none) side effects or complications.
Results will be visible after your first treatment, as skin remodelling from micro needling can go on for months after each dermapen treatment. As skin naturally regenerates every 30 days microneedling effects can be ongoing. If you want to see more long lasting results then a course could be an option. We will take before and after treatments between treatments to monitor your results.
During the skin healing process, minor itching, flaking or redness may appear
Please avoid the following activities for up to two days following a Dermapen clinical procedure. Intensive cardio. Direct UV light. Excessive hot showers. Further clinical treatments including microdermabrasion, laser, IPL, chemical peels and dermal fillers. Spray or spray tanning. Swimming in chlorine pools or oceans. Tattooing (including cosmetic tattooing). Light oil free make up can be applied for 24 hours post procedure. If you are in any doubt please call us which normal activity can be resumed.
As the treatment is Nurse led, we are able to use needle depths from 0.5 to 2mm. We use a medical grade anesthetic cream all over to ensure it is a pain-free and comfortable treatment. Deborah is a Dermapen Master having in advanced Dermapen techniques with the world renowned doctor Andrew Christie.
