MEDICAL PEELS OFFER LASTING SKINCARE SOLUTIONS

Treatments and facials are becoming increasingly popular and thousands are spent every year in salons and clinics. Many of our clients report recent beauty salon visits for different types of facial peels. While beauty salons offer a relaxing and comfortable pamper, the skincare results, unfortunately, will not
last.
Contrary to popular belief medical aesthetic clinics do not cater just for anti-wrinkle or filler
treatments but cover a wide range of cosmetic products that deal with a variety of skincare issues.
There is a vast difference between the advanced peels carried out in a beauty clinic and those
offered by a nurse or doctor. This is because the medical staff at these clinics are trained to use
unbuffered peels whereas the salon may use only buffered peels.

Buffered and unbuffered peels
Buffering essentially means that the peel is diluted with water or some other diluting agent. This means that you are receiving a much weaker peel in a salon than you could get at a medical clinic.
The staff at beauty clinics understand the effects of the chosen acid on the skin. They are trained in how
to use an undiluted peel. The salon peel is partly neutralised to make up for the fact that the
staff are not medically trained. This is why the beauty salon peel is less effective.
Chemical peels work by weakening the fatty connections holding dead skin cells together. The
alpha hydroxy acid in the peel quickly soaks into the skin and disconnects the bonds freeing the dead cells
which can then be cleaned away. When you have a buffered peel, the effect is weakened and
therefore fewer of the cells will be released and the improvements that the peel has brought about
not last as long as an unbuffered peel.
Unbuffered peels are also more effective on acne-prone skin. They work well in resolving
pigmentation problems and dry skin, which all show much more obvious improvements than is
possible with buffered peels.

Pharmaceutically approved
All products used in the clinic are pharmaceutically approved. This means that they have been rigidly
tested and have undergone introductory sampling to measure their effectiveness before they are
sold to the general public.
The treatments offered at a medical clinic are safer and more effective because clinics must have
trained medical staff on duty whenever the products are in use. Unbuffered peels are stronger and
more effective but the side effects can be more severe, which is why the treatments are supervised
by medical staff.

Chemical peel and facial – What’s the difference?
A typical facial consists of a cleanser, scrub, mask, exfoliation and extraction. This is followed by a
facial massage. A good facial is relaxing and is great for softening up the skin. You will emerge from
the salon looking and feeling better, but the treatment will offer no long-term benefits. This is
because a facial is not a medical treatment. It is a cosmetic intervention. Sometimes facials even go
by some other fancy name. Regardless of what it is called a facial is short term, and the benefits will
be short-lived.
For long-lasting results, you will benefit far more from a course of hypercustomised medical grade peels. Unbuffered
peels applied at an aesthetics clinic will offer you lasting results for stubborn facial skin issues.
Going to a clinic such as Nurse Deborah where the professional staff attends regular training and
where treatments are conducted under the supervision of a trained nurse is your best option. With
any treatment, you always run the risk of side effects. If you do have a reaction to the product it is
best to know that someone trained can assist you.
Not only is this the safer option, but it is also better value for money as you will derive more benefits
from the undiluted treatments. Unbuffered treatments in aesthetic clinics are more effective. The
results of the treatment are more obvious and the benefits will last for much longer.
